Reshad de Gerus on his Exciting 2022 Racing Plans
Reshad de Gerus is an eighteen-year-old racing driver from the French department of Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. For such a young driver, he’s already managed to get a lot of racing experience under his belt.
He’s raced in the French Formula 4 Championship, EuroFormula Open Championship and spent a lot of time in Formula 3 last year where he raced for Charouz Racing System.

But due to the high costs of motorsport, Reshad was sadly unable to complete his season in Formula 3 last year.
But that hasn’t stopped him from pursuing his motorsport career and he recently announced that he’ll be moving in a new racing direction in 2022 as he joins the Duqueine Team for the LMP2 European Le Mans Series alongside Richard Bradley and Memo Rojas.
Reshad and I caught up recently to chat about 2022 racing plans and more:
You’ve got some exciting news for this year but before we get into that, I want to go back slightly and ask what first got you into motorsport?
So I started motorsport back when I was five years old in karting because my father did some rally car on Reunion Island so I grew up surrounded by motorsport. After that, I started karting and I really loved it and I’m here today!
So you’ve just announced your 2022 plans. For those who don’t know what they are, tell us all about it and how you’re feeling about it!
So it’s a big change for me – a big opportunity in my career to drive in LMP2 this year in the European Le Mans Championship with Duqueine. I’m very happy with that news and I’m really looking forward to starting the season.
I was in F3 last year and now I will completley change everything you know because in endurance racing, you have to share the car with two other drivers and you have to find some compromise with everything. But it’s very exciting news and I’m really looking forward to that and I hope that I can have a good season.

Which track are you most looking forward to race at?
So from the European Le Mans Series, I think for me it’s Imola because I really love this track. Not Le Castellet, I prefer Imola!
With two experienced drivers alongside him in the team, Reshad will find himself in a great environment to really absorb everything about the ELMS Championship this year.
He’s also no stranger to fighting for position until the very end of a race as he proved back in the F4 Championship in 2019 where he won a race in Spa by overtaking his main opponent coming out of the bus stop chicane on the final lap of the race.
With the 2022 racing season across the motorsport world fast approaching, Reshad is definitely one to watch.
Keep your eyes peeled.
